FutureLaw Conference 2025: A glimpse into what’s next for legal

June 3, 2025

FutureLaw Conference 2025 in Tallinn brought together legal professionals, technologists, and academics to explore how law is evolving through user-centric design, AI integration, and inclusive team development. The two-day event focused on the practical implications of legal innovation—how tools and methods are already transforming legal services and shaping the profession’s future.

Legal design emerged as a core theme. In a hands-on workshop led by Karol Valencia, participants explored how legal services can be restructured around usability and clarity. As an AI Adoption & Change Manager at Saga, Karol emphasized the importance of combining design thinking with organizational change: “When we design legal services for people first—not just for legal professionals—we create space for innovation that actually works in practice.”

The workshop challenged attendees to rethink documents and processes, ending with a discussion on implementation strategies across legal teams. Karol also joined a panel on Diverse Legal Teams – The Future of Legal Workforce, which addressed how team composition impacts performance, creativity, and retention. The discussion emphasized that inclusive work environments are essential for adapting to rapid change, particularly when introducing emerging technologies like generative AI.

The panel reinforced the broader conference message: legal transformation is not only about tools but about the culture that enables their use.

AI was another focal point throughout the event. While interest in generative AI remains strong, speakers consistently pointed to the need for transparency, ethical frameworks, and reliable data. Across panels, there was agreement that the success of legal AI depends on human oversight and collaboration—not replacement. Sessions explored how professionals can work alongside AI systems while maintaining accountability, with particular attention to training, data quality, and trust-building.

Saga’s participation in the event reflects its broader commitment to people-centric legal innovation. With contributions from Karol and others, the conference underscored that the future of law depends on interdisciplinary learning and open dialogue across legal roles and jurisdictions.

FutureLaw 2025 was a timely reminder that transformation happens not in theory, but through shared insight and thoughtful implementation.
